Wounderland: Photos Of Grotesque Monsters Accompanied By Mounted Animals
Mothmeister is the Belgium-based couple behind these brilliantly creepy portraits of grotesque characters and their little companions – real mounted animals. They pose for their photos in extraordinary monster costumes and terrifying masks with all sorts of ghoulish details.
“We portray anonymous, ugly masked creatures as a reaction against the dominant exhibitionism of the selfie culture and beauty standards marketed by the mass media,” the couple writes on boredpanda.
As they are both passionate taxidermy collectors, they have plenty of animal companions for their nightmarish and lonesome two-legged characters. The creators point out that the mounted critters are given a second life – they dress them in the same fashions that Victorian taxidermist Walter Potter used with his work.

Got wisdom to pour?
I absolutely LOVE the imagery!!
That is sick and twisted, it is not beautiful or of any value and further more it a cruel and horrible for the unnecessary slaughter of the mounted animals in those photos. If you think that is art, you have no concept of real beauty in this world.
I doubt highly that the animals were euthanized solely for the photos. They could have been easily bought from any flea market or second hand store. Possibly all at once. Calm down. They meant no disrespect.
Purchased already mounted is what I meant. Usually people mount animals they loved dearly in memorial or hunters will do so as a trophy.
before i scrolled down i knew that there was going to be a moronic post about animal rights and how its horrible that they used mounted animals thanks for being predictable :)
as soon as i saw her post i knew some douche would be mean to her about it. thanks for being predictable and a boor :)
it doesn’t cost anything to be nice.
Taxidermists do not kill for their work. They pick up road kill and other animals who have already passed naturally or by other means. Never do they kill them with their own hands. Please educate yourself on the work of taxidermy before spewing such outrageous nonsense. Hunters are a different story. Judging from the animals pictured, I can tell this clearly is not the work of a hunter.
