This Iranian Music Streaming Site Removed All Women From Their Album Covers In A Bizarre Attempt Of Censorship
We’ve seen some examples of censorship in the Middle-East before but Iranian music streaming site Melovaz decided to take it to the extreme. The site completely removed all female (and some male) singers from their own album covers, leaving them completely empty.
After realizing what’s happening, Twitter user Izzi posted his findings on Twitter where other people joined in searching for the most ridiculously censored albums on Melovaz. “The editing for A Star Is Born’s song Shallow by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper infuriated me the most,” said the user in an interview with Bored Panda. “They completely censored and removed Gaga but not Brad, and even did a terrible job at it. That was so unnecessary.”

“I would like to add that I know for a fact that some countries in the Middle East would censor its female images by adding clothes and hijabs, I’m not okay with that, but this Iranian streaming site takes it to a whole new level by erasing every trace of them,” said Izzi. “I hope this brings some awareness to the world that some women still face this kind of discrimination even in the 21st century.”

Yes it is, but why? The reason is that in our Iranian culture and religion, the status of women is very, very different from other countries and cultures, and we Iranians have a lot of respect for women.
As an Iranian woman I say, this statement is completely false. People like you just piss me off.
