Got wisdom to pour?
The restroom in the 5 and dime had pay stalls.
You put a dime in the slot on the stall door to open it.
My best friend and I would both use it for 1 dime.
We thought we were really getting away with something!
I’m grew up in Brooklyn in the 80’s. I remember graffiti all over the subway cars. My mom telling me to say that I was 5 years old until I was about 8 so I can ride the subway for free. I remember government cheese and “no frills” (just a white box or packaging with big bold black letters: CORNFLAKES, ORANGE JUICE, SPAGHETTI lol
I remember buying like a whole meal for just one dollar: 25 cents chips, 25 cents cake, “quarter water” and a 25cents bag of “penny” candy (we were poor)
And food stamps
I remember the glass wall to make a smoke room in tim hortons restaurants in the 90s. I was just a kid.

I remember my mom smoking in Sears. At the grocery store. Riding totally unbuckled cross country. Taking off with no supervision or anything. Drinking from the hose .. any hose you could find sometimes.
Smoking and non-smoking airline tickets. I’m not sure what the point of the non-smoking seating was….
Burger King ashtrays …smoking and non smoking sections in restaurants 🤔
