Graffiti Artist Blu Destroys 20 Years Of His Work In A Protest Against The Rich

Published 9 years ago

If you live in Bologna, you’ve probably noticed some changes around the city recently.

Just before the new art expo “Street Art: Banksy & Co. – L’Arte allo Stato Urbano“, street artist “Blu” started his public protest against it.  He is going after the banks, which are financing the new exposition, the very same rich folks, who usually get street art removed.

So after the discovery that his work had been removed from some locations owned by the banks he decided to help them out and paint over his impressive graffiti works himself. That same graffiti which he was putting up in Bologna for 20 years…

It is not the first artist’s statement like that. In a similar fashion last year he has painted over some of his works in Berlin, to express his outrage about the gentrification of the area.

It’s always a pity for us to see a great art being destroyed, at least this time, it’s for a better cause.
