Got wisdom to pour?
Well, the ad designers are really clever, but … imposing massive guilt or fear never made the world any better.
We don’t need guilt. We need hope.
Looks like someone should stop posting blips on the web and start opening a non-profit. Any clues on who Eufrat?
If anorexia is a choice, so is fatness!
In most cases fatness is a choice. Or are you claiming that 69% of the american population aged 20 or more are suffering from an incurable disease?
Do you suggest 69% of the american population bla bla decided to be fat?
I think whats trying to be said is that 69% of amercians chose to eat that Mcdonalds burger, chose to eat that extra pork chop, chose to eat the leftover lasagna at 3 in the morning. These are choices in your mind, you can choose to make these decisions or not. So you are deciding you want to be fat without even thinking.
Can not believe the add were it was the Kinder Egg that is banned, and not the Assault Rifle… It’s so ridiculous..
Guns are a part of this nation’s history and they always will be. The Kinder egg has to be approved by the FDA in order to be sold here.
School massacres are a part of your nation’s history too. There’s no need for them to be part of your nation’s future.
So motivating , but many people will forgot in max 5 min , when they see a photo with bieber or something else , you get the point
Don´t you people see the larger picture of these advertisments???
I agree with a lot of these but some are ludicrous. If you don’t want a gun around your kid then don’t buy one. It’s not called the bill of needs it’s a bill of rights. I own an AR-15 like the one pictured and it may look like an assault rifle but the difference between it and a real AR is the rate of fire. Besides there was a shooting done back in the 70’s where a few dozen policemen were killed by a man using a 5 round bolt action rifle. Don’t blame guns, blame the people who misused them. I also was appalled by the Google auto complete searches and that is not right, sure a lot of people joke about it but a good chunk of them would stand up for a woman’s rights.
The less idiots will have a gun the less shooting will happen. Simple as f..k. And believe me, there are too many idiots out there.
And every person in the US that has acquired a firearm legally has to have taken a firearms safety class in order to use or own a firearm of any kind. It sounds to me like you are not as educated on the subject as you would like to be.
Sorry but that’s bullshit. There is no class required of an adult To purchase a gun of any sort. In Tennessee where I live we are not even required to register our hand guns. Now there may be cities or counties in the USA with different rules but there is not any federal law about classes or education or even hunter safety to buy borrow a hand gun or shot gun or rifle. I am a die hard liberal who also believes in gun rights and own many guns.
Where I live in Nebraska, it is required by federal law that anyone that is going to purchase a firearm has taken a safety class no matter how old you are. Along with that class you have to pass the standard background test for whether or not you are a criminal or mentally unstable.
I guess thats a firegun, not an ordinary. Its fucking sick that u have guns in the states… its terrible, is there a war going on there? i feel sorry for ur country. maybe im just stupid, but if its really easy to get hold of a gun, more people r going to use it if they want, and if they couldnt get hold of a gun, they wouldn’t.. pretty easy math…the sooner u see it the more lifes it would save and the more money the big cooperations will loose..
It is written in our Constitution that we have the right to bear arms and defend ourselves against a tyrannical government. Besides firearms are great tools for hunting and marksmanship. I would gladly show you how 90% of American’s that own guns use them correctly. Mass murders are more common with knives than they are with guns. If you are taught how to use it correctly in the first place then your view on firearms would change. Besides it was through gun control and tight regulation that Hitler was able to remain in power for so long. I think every citizen in every nation should have a gun as long as they are properly taught how to use it and are responsible enough to use it correctly.
but who has the right to decide who is ‘responsible enough’?
Imo, your government is tyrannical already. Why don’t you guys rise up? Oh right, they have the military that you can’t do shit about… Keep thinking that you are “safe” from a tyrannical government even though you have guns. Because you are not. Also, I have never heard of this preposterous statement that Hitler was in power for so long because of gun control. It was rather because the government did all their shady things behind the populations back while keeping the population satisfied so that nobody (or barely anybody) asks questions. Not much different today, don’t you think? Deporting people to secret camps, torturing those while trying to gain more and more power… Sounds like Hitler, but in todays world it is the US government.
Sorry, not that most other governments are better though. In my eyes the US (not the people, at least not most of them) is one of the greatest evil right now.
And the Constitution was written in what year….?
Why do you even bother discussing with gun fanatics… statistics are showing the reality. Where else in the western world are people murdered with guns every second… You have what you deserve.
The fact is that these guns are made available to virtually anyone who wants them in the US. By allowing most people to have these guns then idiots will continually buy them and continuing massacring people, the US govt needs to take responsibility as well.
Hey, guess what? Misogyny is still a thing! Sexism still exists!
These are incredible. Weirdly I was a little blown away by the Google search autocomplete one from the UN. Tried it myself and they really are the first sorts of responses that come up.
Woah! And now that has been removed it seems. Can’t find anything after Women need to, should/shouldn’t etc. Same with men though.
anorexia isnt a fucking choice
Anorexia always starts as a choice! Wake up!
no. If you don’t understand the compulsive nature of a debilitating mental disorder that dominates lives do not argue for it being a ‘choice’; it’s insulting to those who suffer from it & embarrassingly highlights your ignorance.
Anorexia and Bulimia start as people not liking how they look and feel about themselves because of what society throws at them. They aren’t born with these conditions. Starting is a choice, but the continuation is not.
THANK YOU. /former sufferer.
Plenty of ‘pro ana’ websites seem to highlight a rather different opinion and promote the disorder as a choice to continue on with it, and in a positive manner. So whilst for a certain majority it may not be a choice to start with, evidently for others, it is.
the majority of people who hang out on pro-ana websites are people not actually suffering from anorexia but wanting anorexia (there’s even a word for it, “wannarexic”), people who are ignorant/misinformed and believe this horrible mental illness is a lifestyle choice or a diet choice. these individuals are definitely NOT mentally well, but it should be known that the majority of people actually sufferering from anorexia are strongly against “pro-ana”. the phenomenon paints a very degrading and horribly inaccurate image of this mental disorder. it is not glamorous. it is not cute. it is painful, lonely, and absolutely ruins your life.
I totally agree. Pro-ana websites are made or visited by people who are not anorexic. I can´t really imagine anyone who would want to promote what I have been through, even yet trying to get other people at the same level. However, I m still thinking it is not a mental illness such as depression. It is an addiction that you develop. However, no one really chooses to be like this. Starting a diet is a choice, wanting to get thinner is a choice. Loosing control over it, lossing your own identity, health and happinness is not. It sneaks up on you, you don´t say “hey, I feel a bit fat, let´s become anorexic”. That´s not how it works and that´s what pro-ana websites are promoting. And those who compare, anorexia quite often leads to depression. I don´t think it is something you can label.
no one CHOOSES an illness!!! if you are not in someway predisposed to it, brain-chemistry wise, you will not end up afflicted with it! it is a disorder of the BRAIN, which means you have certain brain dysfunctions to end up with it. it is not something you suddenly “GET”. you can choose to restrict food, sure, but you cannot CHOOSE the actual disorder that is anorexia nervosa. a lot of people diet/restrict food, very very few of these end up suffering from eating disorders. anorexia affects only 1% of the population. it is something you are afflicted by. just as you cannot CHOOSE bipolar/adhd/schizophrenia/cancer/diabetes/lymedisease/etc/etc you cannot CHOOSE anorexia nervosa.
You idiots who call anorexia anything but self inflicted are just that, idiots. It’s the same for people who call drug addiction a disease. The mental illness is a disease, the anorexia is a disorder caused by a diseased mind. It is not the disease itself. Sorry to name call, but people who look at these self inflicted people, who can be treated and just need to get their heads straight, and say that they are the same as or no different than a child with cancer, or someone with ALS, Alzheimer’s, Leukemia, MS, etc., are just being ridiculous.
OMG how stupid can you be.
it never does. no one “chooses” to become anorexia, it is not a diet, it is a mental illness that actually only 1% of the population is suffering from. educate yourself.
Rly? Anorexia is a fucking mental disorder, like schizophrenia, depression, etc.! Is getting sick a choice? I don’t think so. Anorexia starts with the lack of self-acceptance, that should also be treated.
Getting help is.
True, but it depends if they understand that they need help. Anorexia they are not always aware that anything is wrong. Their overall perception of themselves can be completely distorted. It’s whether or not they understand it to be wrong that means they’re more or less likely to look for help.
I think it was aimed at the model agencies though, not people suffering from anorexia. But I could be wrong.
Not seeking help for anorexia is a choice.
@f*ck –The inability to clearly express one’s thoughts and feelings in speech is a choice.
After reading your comment; we can only guess at what you are trying to say.
And I think we all would tend to agree that anorexia is not a sexual intercourse position.
“Liking is not helping” hit me hard. Although I think there’s definitely something to be said for social media activism bringing things to the public’s attention, it can’t just end there.
these are amazing. Too bad we don’t see more of them everywhere!!
these ads are powerful, i like the “liking is not helping”, its the same way you see in social sites posting doleful photos and captioning “1 like = 1 prayer, share = 2 prayers and dont forget to type amen”
