20 Portraits Of People Before And After Photographer Jay Weinstein Asked Them To Smile (New Pics)

Published 4 years ago

So I asked them to smile is a photography project started by Australian traveler and photographer Jay Weinstein back in 2013. In his project, the photographer takes portraits of people from all over the world before and after asking them to smile, and it’s absolutely amazing to see how something as simple as a smile can completely change a person.

Back in 2013, Jay visited India and while walking around the streets of Bikaner, he noticed a man leaning against some motorbikes. And even though he felt drawn to him, Jay decided to avoid him just in case and started shooting nearby objects when the man suddenly shouted “Take my picture too!”. The photographer did not hesitate and took the stranger’s portrait after asking him to smile. And it was this simple encounter that inspired Jay to start the so I asked them to smile project.

We’ve already featured some of Jay’s portraits before here, and now he’s back with even more – check them out in the gallery below!

One day, this guy just kind of figured - "I spend most of my time on the internet anyway, why not turn it into a profession?" - and he did! Now he not only gets to browse the latest cat videos and fresh memes every day but also shares them with people all over the world, making sure they stay up to date with everything that's trending on the web. Some things that always pique his interest are old technologies, literature and all sorts of odd vintage goodness. So if you find something that's too bizarre not to share, make sure to hit him up!

Got wisdom to pour?
