50+ Hilariously Honest Illustrations That Sum Up This Artist’s Struggles Of Being An Adult
Clare Kayden Hines is an American artist, who has been drawing since the age of five. She says it was her dog that inspired her to start drawing: “I was 5 and I was so obsessed with her that all I wanted to do was draw her on every piece of paper I could find. I eventually expanded to drawing other subjects beyond dogs.”
In October 2017 Clare dreamt up an alter ego called Kayden Hines and started a series of illustrations as a comedic release. “I started illustrating Kayden as she went through various awkward, ridiculous, mundane, and frustrating life scenarios. There’s something so funny to me about our constant battles with ourselves to be functioning human beings. It’s like our brains are constantly at war with our sloth-like selves to get stuff done,” Clare told Bored Panda.
Clare says the hardest part about drawing comics is having the concept in her head, but not having the skills to make the comic look how she wants. “It can feel very frustrating!” says Clare. “The best part for me is making people laugh and having them see some part of themselves in my comics. I love that I can take an insane thought or observation that exists in my head, turn it into something tangible, and put it out in the world.” The artist says that seeing people relate to her work is a very cool feeling and makes her feel less crazy in this world.
“My goal—beyond my account being a creative outlet for me—is to make people feel less “alone” by seeing themselves in my posts,” shared Clare. Check out her hilarious relatable comics in the gallery below!
