Polish Artists Recreate Traditional Slavic Wreaths To Preserve The Tradition
It scares me to think, how much awesome stuff has been lost to history already, but thanks to photographer Ula Kóska and makeup artist Beata Bojda, one more of these beautiful things will be preserved for longer.
The Polish artists collaborated on a project where a couple of models were dressed in traditional Slavic attires, including these incredible head wreaths – an iconic part of Slavic folklore. Back in the day women wore them during religious and secular ceremonies such as marriage, funeral, festivals and one on the most important annual celebrations – Easter.
These impressive headdresses are made out of paper by twisting it tightly into flower shapes – a traditional method of creating such wreaths in Poland.

These wreaths and looks don’t reflect Polish traditions at all … Maby without makeup and totally non slavic clothes this wreaths will be look much better. Loves from PL.
Racism, we ALL know these are stolen from black people
No they’re not. Slavic culture and traditions have nothing to do with black people. Slavs are not western Europeans and Slavs are not the colonizers. You need to educate yourself because you have serious racial bias and prejudice. Slavs have endured anough from westerners and don’t need lies from you.
You probably think history is only the 400 years of American history. Educate yourself, there is a whole world out. I bet you think Serbia and Syria are the same place too…
You never wondered why black Americans only have British and French surnames. Think, it’s not hard. Black Americans don’t have surnames from southern or eastern Europe, you do understand European ethic groups include far more than just British and French right? You never wondered why black people don’t have Italian, Greek, Russian, Croatian. Polish etc surnames? Think, it’s not hard. And cultures have existed for thousands and thousands of years, read some books and check your bias.
