This Artist Transforms Boring Streets With His Stunning Pixel Art (20 Pics)

Published 9 months ago

Swedish artist Johan Karlgen has spent a decade crafting pixel art that blends nostalgia with a commitment to challenging societal norms. In a recent interview with DeMilked, Karlgen said, “I’ve been doing this full time for 10 years this summer,” emphasizing a decade of dedicated exploration. His work, inspired by old pixel video games and a desire to break gender stereotypes, serves as a visual dialogue on representation and identity.

The artist’s creative process is rooted in pure joy, as he shared, “I’m 100% driven by joy. After the first couple of cups of coffee in the morning, I try to make something that makes me happy. And hopefully, the beautiful people cheering me on via social media will feel the same.”

Johan Karlgen’s art is a celebration of joy that has resonated with viewers worldwide over his decade-long artistic journey. Check out some of his amazing works in the gallery below.
