Artist Illustrates The Funny Things He Overhears People Say In Everyday Situations
Sometimes one just can’t help but eavesdrop on a conversation happening right next to them. Whether it’s a couple of friends sitting right behind you on a bus or standing in front of you in line for coffee, you’re bound to hear some snippets of their dialogue. Avner Geller is an artist who uses snippets like that as an inspiration for his work – he illustrates random sentences he hears in various public places.
The idea to start the series came to the artist when he was shopping and heard a girl complain to her friend about a text. “A young woman was looking at her phone and gave a big sigh, turned to her friend decisively and exclaimed, ‘He wants to go to Bali. But I say Fiji!’ I couldn’t help but laugh. The absurdity of this ‘first world problem’ was too much,” Geller explained his interest in these funny and often very revealing one-sentence stories.
The artist claims that the illustrations portray our co-workers, friends, neighbors, and, most importantly, they show us and how we talk and act when no one is listening. Curious to know how you might sound to others? Scroll down to see the funny illustrations yourself.
