“Newbuild Hate”: 25 Newly Built House Fails
Many people talk about how old things were built to last, whereas nowadays such a feat is not a guarantee. But talk is nothing without proof, so folks have been venting about their frustrations dealing with poorly built houses by gathering evidence of their claims and sharing it online.
The dedicated community space called ‘Newbuild Hate’ has since become quite a popular X-page. It’s home to a host of hilarious pics of bad craftsmanship, impractical balconies and crumbling foundations from which we’ve shared some of the best finds in the gallery below.

Elchinero: what is a “string course”?
JB: I had to look it up. String course or string course is the decorative horizontal band on the exterior wall of a building. Like the strip of stone moulding that runs in between the stories. I thought it merely had decorative value, but it seems it can also have architectural value!

LillieMean: I hate these light pollution LED boards with a burning passion. They are so bright that the retinas melt and they have flashing ads. If it is near the apartments and it is visible from the windows, I recommend an official complaint to the city. If something like this appeared on my local street, I would make an informal complaint with a stone.

Heffalump: Utterly pointless to have a Juliet balcony unless the windows are full length (french doors). The idea is you can open up the entire room and have an ‘outdoors’ feel without risking falling out to your death.
Got wisdom to pour?
