Largest Model Railway In The World Is Now On Google Street View
Hamburg is the model train exhibit. And it just got the Google Street View treatment. Google tapped Ubilabs to make tiny camera rig vehicles to record the track at minis-eye view. Now you can experience what a model train feels when you zoom along the track, too! Just be careful and not get too drawn it, else you might start thinking that Germans are all plastic.
Miniatur Wunderland is the largest model rail exhibit in the world, started in 2001 and with a planned finishing date of 2020. It currently takes up the area of 1,300 m2 (13,993 sq ft) and includes areas representing Germany, Austria, Switzerland, America, and more. The Wunderland includes 930 trains made up of over 14,450 carriages, 335,000 lights, 228,000 trees, and 215,000 human figurines. Can you fathom the scale? Because I can’t.
