20 Fallacies Most Commonly Used By Dumb People To Win Arguments And How To Recognize Them

Published 6 years ago

When people start losing arguments, they often resort to using faulty reasoning, called fallacies. Be it intentional or not, they often turn a reasonable discussion into a childish argument. And with anti-vaxxers and flat-earthers commenting on the internet more and more often, it’s good to know some of the most common logical fallacies to not be surprised when they are used.

Logan Murphy, a San Francisco based illustrator, has created a list of 20 most commonly used logical fallacies so people can learn the tactics used against them. “They took a bit to make but it was a fun project,” said the artist in an interview with Bored Panda. He says he was hoping to hit the sweet spot between humor and truth.

Logan has an associate’s degree in philosophy but says that the inspiration to start this project came from the time he worked in customer service. “Customers use them a lot in an attempt to get things,” explained the artist. “I’m never able to call them on what they are doing, so this started out as me venting!”

Aušrys Uptas

One day, this guy just kind of figured - "I spend most of my time on the internet anyway, why not turn it into a profession?" - and he did! Now he not only gets to browse the latest cat videos and fresh memes every day but also shares them with people all over the world, making sure they stay up to date with everything that's trending on the web. Some things that always pique his interest are old technologies, literature and all sorts of odd vintage goodness. So if you find something that's too bizarre not to share, make sure to hit him up!

Got wisdom to pour?
