“Ghost” Artist Uses Photo Projections To Highlight Loneliness

Published 4 hours ago

During the height of the pandemic period, people were forced to self-isolate. This caused a psychological reaction in most of us. Removing ourselves from the physical presence of others deeply impacted people’s professional and personal lives. While remote working became the new norm it was still a major lifestyle adjustment to get accustomed to.

During this time, Russian photographer Karman Verdi was inspired to create his “Ghost” project. The series aims to depict loneliness and lack of intimacy. The artist invited people to send their images to him and used a projector to superimpose them into his own environment, translating them into poignant visuals that represent virtual relationships.

This unique format was born out of a collective experience, but Verdi expressed that it became quite personal to him as a means for conveying his emotions. He considers his art a performance piece because the juxtaposition of two people’s distinct images to create one message is not just art but an explorative act that he hopes his viewers can appreciate.

Shanilou has always loved reading and learning about the world we live in. While she enjoys fictional books and stories just as much, since childhood she was especially fascinated by encyclopaedias and strangely enough, self-help books. As a kid, she spent most of her time consuming as much knowledge as she could get her hands on and could always be found at the library. Now, she still enjoys finding out about all the amazing things that surround us in our day-to-day lives and is blessed to be able to write about them to share with the whole world as a profession.

Got wisdom to pour?
