15 Photos Of Women ‘Washing Away Their Sorrows’ In Water, As Portrayed In Hyperrealistic Oil Paintings By Marissa Oosterlee
Marissa Oosterlee is an award-winning Dutch artist who creates stunning hyperrealistic oil paintings. In an interview with DeMilked, the artist told us that she has been painting for the past 20 years. “I used to paint fairytales and illustrations but then gradually evolved into more realistic stories in order to make belief of my fairytales,” she says.
The artist later developed more inclination towards hyperrealism and classical art. She also found contemporary art very fascinating and now combines it often with hyperrealism and then calls it “contemporary realism”.
Describing her creative process, Marissa says, “I’m working in series usually, based on a theme. A Fox in the city, mythical figures and goddesses, and nowadays my water stories. They are all originally based on a state of being or a strong emotion and from there I take it to the next in the series.” Check out some of her wonderful works from her water-themed series “Wash Away My Sorrows” in the gallery below.
The artist is starting a new series soon using the water theme again but with a different story, and we are sure it would be as amazing as this one! Stay tuned for the latest updates!
