20+ Hilarious Comics By French Vegan Artist Ari_Stocrate
Ariane, known on the internet as ari_stocrate is a 24-year-old illustrator from Paris, France. She creates hilarious comics on her Instagram page and the internet loves them!
When asked where she the ideas for her comics, in an interview with Bored Panda Ariane came up with a quirky answer – “I get my ideas from small Peruvians I keep in my basement who work day and night to find the best jokes… and also real life.” She also says that her all-time inspiration is no one other than Garfield.
Ariane says she only draws digital comics and hates drawing on paper: “I hate paper. My home is paper free. And also pepper free. That last statement is false. I love pepper. What was the question again?”
Many of Ariane’s comics include her cat Jasper – “Jasper comes from the planet Cathar where he was discovered to be force sensitive but the empire declared him too powerful and put a bounty on his head, which is why he had to exile to planet Earth, he loves it here but he misses death sticks a bit.” As you can see, the artist sure doesn’t lack imagination!
Ariane says one doesn’t have to be “Michael-Angelo” to draw comic strips and that the important part of the comic is the joke, not the art. She says that sadly, not all people understand this and often simple comics might be judged as if they are graphic novels. “Trust me, drastic changes of angles and poses with too much-added details spoil the comedy timing and you end up with a weird unfunny chimera between two genres. I’ve seen this, I’ve done this, you don’t want this,” warns Ariane.
