“The Coincidence Project”: 10 Of Denis Cherim’s Best Photographs

Published 3 days ago

Most of us rush through life, barely noticing our surroundings as we jump from one task to another. But there is much beauty and symmetry to enjoy if only we would take a moment to take it all in. Denis Cherim has dedicated his efforts to capturing these unexpected moments he randomly spotted while going about daily life. He claims that words are not his friend and that he feels more comfortable with photography. He attempts to capture normal moments, where the interplay of light, shadows and linear perspective create a scene of subtle coincidences

The “Coincidence Project”, as he fondly calls this series, is an opportunity to observe how urban and natural landscapes that are usually quite familiar to us merge to create a certain balance. He began working on this project in 2012 to capture how various subjects appear to be coincidentally working together to create an amusing combination that tells a whole new story of an otherwise everyday situation.

Speaking about his work, Cherim stated, “Through the coincidences of unconnected elements I discover new places where nothing is beautiful or ugly, nothing is big or small, nothing is good or bad, it is only exciting. Suddenly duality disappears and leaves space for unity. Where there are two, there seems to be three, and where there seems to be three, there is actually only One”.

Shanilou Perera

Shanilou has always loved reading and learning about the world we live in. While she enjoys fictional books and stories just as much, since childhood she was especially fascinated by encyclopaedias and strangely enough, self-help books. As a kid, she spent most of her time consuming as much knowledge as she could get her hands on and could always be found at the library. Now, she still enjoys finding out about all the amazing things that surround us in our day-to-day lives and is blessed to be able to write about them to share with the whole world as a profession.

Got wisdom to pour?
