20 Times This Artist Made The Streets More Interesting With His Creative Street Art

Published 4 years ago

Jamie Paul Scanlon, aka JPS, is a British artist based in Germany who is making the streets more interesting one art piece at a time. The artist has his own distinctive style which often features characters from well-known video games and TV shows in his works, and is a pro at incorporating various environmental elements into his works, such as railings and drain covers.

In a recent interview with Bored Panda, Jamie said that even though he was into art since a young age, he grew up in an environment that held little opportunity. “Then a series of events and the murders of 2 close friends sent me down a twelve-year path of heavy drink and drug use,” revealed the artist. However, things would eventually change for the better.

Back in 2009, Jamie’s friend took him to see a Banksy museum show. “I loved the concept of using full-size stencils on walls. It planted the seed to face my addictions and I began self-teaching and hitting walls,” said the artist.

Jamie says that he hates the money and business side of art, and prefers to concentrate his energy on delivering new works to the world. “The problem is I find it difficult to give Banksy any credit for my creation these days because of the two things I found out the past couple of years: the proof I have of his team blackballing my career and blocking my media. Which is a pity,” revealed the artist.

“To me, a world without any art would be very dull, although there is no better artist than Mother Nature herself,” says Jamie. “Personally, it gave me a purpose and reason to live. I’m proud of how far I’ve come from the walking corpse I once was.”

One day, this guy just kind of figured - "I spend most of my time on the internet anyway, why not turn it into a profession?" - and he did! Now he not only gets to browse the latest cat videos and fresh memes every day but also shares them with people all over the world, making sure they stay up to date with everything that's trending on the web. Some things that always pique his interest are old technologies, literature and all sorts of odd vintage goodness. So if you find something that's too bizarre not to share, make sure to hit him up!

Got wisdom to pour?
