Galactic Cats: Psychedelic Illustrations Merge Cats And Space

Published 9 years ago

Are your cats full of galactic space? No? Must be one of those off-brand models, unlike these ‘Galactic Cats’ by Jen Bartel. To put it simply, these are portraits of cats overlaid on images of space. The drawings are done in psychedelic (or cyberpunk, even) colors that invoke the feeling of, well, intergalactic space (or, rather, the shiny and colorful things floating in there).

Jen Bartel’s forte is illustration, graphic design, and character design. “I grew up in Seoul, South Korea, where I spent the majority of my time consuming cartoons and Asian media of the 90’s and early 2000’s,” Bartel writes on her website. “My work is heavily informed by my childhood interests and experiences.”
