Ukrainian Artist Photoshops Classical Painting Characters Into Real Life, And Looks Like Venus Is Going To The Nude Beach
Alla Mingalyova is a Crimea-born Ukrainian artist, currently based in Yerevan. We recently stumbled upon her artwork featuring figures from classical paintings pasted into modern settings, and just couldn’t help but love them!
Alla says she has been drawing for as long as she can remember. When asked what inspired the artist to create these illustrations, she said was deeply impressed by realistic artworks by Marguerite Gérard, Louis-Léopold Boilly, John William Godward and many others. “I wanted to look at them “reincarnated” and adapted in the modern realities,” said the artist. The illustrations were a blast in her office too! “It turned out very funny, especially the series in the office, I tried to find the characters of the pictures who looked like (or dressed like) my colleagues, photoshopped them at their working places. My colleagues were so excited, but then people all over the world have started to share my collages saying “Oh it’s so me on Monday!” shared Alla.
The artist has been working on her illustrations for almost a year. She mainly does them via Photoshop, but also mentioned that sometimes she even does them on her phone. When asked how she chooses what painting she uses in her illustrations, Alla said “Basically, they choose me.”
