Artist Uses Pages Of Vintage Books As His Canvas To Paint Magnificent Birds (15 Pics)

Craig Williams, an Australia-based painter, creates beautiful bird portraits using vintage book pages as both the inspiration and substrate onto which the birds are depicted. He uses book pages as his canvas to create intentional juxtapositions between his art and printed text.

The self-taught artist says that his technique involves painting in acrylic in thin layers building up the form with layered feather details. “At times some of the text may show through the paint in an almost shadowy way that binds the bird to the page but also contributes to the underlying feather details,” he explains.
