Cavaliers get along nicely with kids and other pets, making them excellent family dogs. They are simple to teach and intelligent. They are proven to be quite easy to housetrain, and they react well to gentle directions as well as lots of praise and pats. They are not at all hostile; instead, they are committed and loyal. Being spaniels, they nevertheless have a strong inclination to follow a smell, even though they like playing and taking walks. They need to exercise frequently.
