Splattered Ink Animal Paintings By Chinese Artist Hua Tunan
Most of our ink splashes are unfortunate accidents, not art. Not so for artist known as Hua Tunan – his ink blotches explode into majestic animals. This artist takes inspiration from both traditional Chinese arts and western graffiti to splash ink into vague, abstract shapes of animals. He then does detail work with inks and brushes and even marker pens. The end result has the same ephemeral feeling of traditional ink paintings coupled with the colors and realism of graffiti.
Hua Tunan (actually Chen Yingjie) is a prolific artist, well known for translating his signature style into wonderful and intricate street art. This had brought him enough renown to get work with brands like Adidas, NIKE, Jaguar, Volvo, Subaru and Disney. His works have been displayed in China, Australia and Switzerland, and he’s currently doing an exhibit in Chicago’s Galerie F.
