Animal Carpets That Everyone Would Like
I’m not sure what you’d think about first reading such a title, but everything here started with some pictures of a leather area rugs. I was not going to write anything but eventually I decided that there is nothing wrong with sharing my opinion. So here it goes …
I was looking for a carpet for my little niece’s room. She likes animals and I assumed that she would like a nice furry rug with animal print or shape for her room. I found what I was looking for and everyone is happy with it now but while searching I stumbled upon some pictures of actual leather rugs that really impressed me (not in a good way).
Nowadays there are so many synthetic fibres and I’ve never thought someone would need to kill real (living and breathing) animal to make a carpet of it. It seems that I was wrong. Trophy hunting is still popular “sport” and has firm supporters, especially among certain society circles. I’m not going to raise questions about the morality of recreational hunting or observed decline in some animal species (very popular as hunting targets). I just want to share my point of view (of a woman who was looking for a carpet for a present).
First of all, some of these trophy rugs seemed very scary to me. And what about a child? I really wouldn’t want a big head of a furry brown bear with an open mouth and large teeth to lay down on the floor for my child to see.
Another thing is that such a piece of carpeting needs special attention. As it is made of natural materials (animal skin is definitely a natural material) certain special cleaning products and treating methods are absolutely inappropriate and will damage or even destroy your “carpet” if applied. I’m not even sure if a carpet cleaning expert can give you a hand with taking care of such trophy or you need to look for another kind of specialist.
After doing my small research, I think that there is a lot easier method to have a great carpet with an animal print (or even animal shape), without killing zebras or bears and even without using animal products(such as wool). Just take a shopping tour around your local carpet stores. If you can’t find your perfect animal carpet there, I’m sure some of the hundreds online shops will offer you something really, really close.
I attached here some very nice examples of animal print carpets (synthetic), although personally I prefer animal carpets for kids (last 4 pictures).
So no matter if you are looking for stylish, modern carpet for your living room or (just like me) for a gift for a child, you can find YOUR piece out there and all that with less efforts than you think. Some of the carpet even look like a fluffy toy and can be used as such. A trophy on the floor in front of the fireplace may seem cosy and beautiful but for me is nothing but a sign for low self-esteem, ego issues or problematic character. But that’s just my opinion. We live in a free country and everybody can choose their carpets by themselves (in it’s not against the low , of course).
