An Invitation to Design a Modern Rug
When we last announced RugYourCity, there were some disappointed people who felt they missed out on a chance to participate in Floorplan Rugs’ design challenge to design a rug inspired by a modern city.
Well now is your chance! Until July 15th, 2016, we will be accepting design submissions for the second design challenge, this time focused on Los Angeles.
As a quick recap, RugYour City is our platform to create handmade rugs inspired by modern cities. The purpose is not only to produce beautiful rugs, but to engage the creative community to interpret what our cities mean to us today. (It’s also a really interesting challenge for those who have never undertaken a rug design before.)
For our pilot program, we collaborated with select architects, designers and artists to interpret New York City as rug designs, and successfully funded their production through a Kickstarter project in September 2015. This time, we’re opening up the submission process to anyone who would like to participate, regardless of their experience designing rugs or their proximity to LA. For those interested in participating, full details are available on the official challenge site. Designs selected will be produced as rugs, and their creators will receive a 4’x6′ rug with their design and a 7% commission on future sales of rugs with their design sold on our site.
If you have any questions or comments during the challenge, we have a Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/RugYourCity/ set up for just that purpose, or you can reach out to us directly through the official challenge site: http://www.floorplanrugs.com/pages/rug-your-city
The challenge will run through July 15, 2016. Full details, templates, and guidelines are available at the official challenge site.
Happy designing!
