Artist Quits Her Day Job To Create Paper Art
Unlike quilting, quilling is the art of using shaped strips of paper. Sena Runa is extremely happy to practice this delicate art. Also known as paper filigree, it’s an art that involves gluing, twisting, rolling and otherwise manipulating paper to create 3D shapes – just like the hearts favored by Runa! She makes them because people like the intricate details, and it’s a good way to say “I love you!”
Sena Runa comes from Turkey, and she used to work as a human resources specialist. She discovered quilling three years ago, and took it up full time about seven months ago. “I’d advise them to follow their imagination,” Runa advised new quillers in an interview. “There they can find originality. If they try to copy others’ works, that will limit their works. And they should have the passion for it, they should keep creating even if they’re tired or it’s 6 am in the morning.”
