Biologist By Day Paints Watercolor Birds By Night

Published 9 years ago

Most imagine artists as devoted to art and nothing else. Anne Balogh, however, is a biologist and environmental educator who takes time to draw magnificent watercolor birds. The paintings are refreshingly realistic, mimicking illustrations in old nature books. That doesn’t detract from their beauty, though – there’s a delightful balance between the detailed birds and their somewhat abstract surroundings.

Anne Balogh grew up on an Ohio horse farm, with an architect father and a mother that was highly creative. “I never really stood a chance – art is in my blood!” she wrote on her website. As a biologist and conservationist, she’s fascinated with birds, which lead her to this line of paintings.
