Emails From Terrible Clients That Designers “Love” More Than Anything
People in creative industries are constantly faced with folks who under-valuate their work. Joshua Johnson of Creative Market has collected some examples of undervaluation from people who are supposed to be paying you. Naturally, these are some tongue in cheek, generic emails, but they do reflect the issues facing many people in the design world. Technical illiteracy of the clients, unwillingness to pay, and inability to understand the amount of work needed to make changes are all too common.
Creative Market is a web-store selling fonts and other things designers need, so they might have heard some of the horror stories. In general, there’s a trend of workers in all industries sharing their customer horror stories. Not Always Right – a play on “the customer is always right” – collects stories from various working people, from waitresses to cops, and employee confession posts are always popular on Imgur. Meanwhile, Clients From Hell is a website dedicated to the woes of people in web creative industries.
I bet owners of those websites never asked their web designer to add Comic Sans and doggie gifs.
