Metal Peacock Made Of Spoons And Other Metal Things Found At Home

Peacocks aren’t terribly metal, but this university student made one worthy of a rock album cover. What’s more, she used only found metal and spent just $50. Going by “liddlenomnom” on reddit, this gal from Northern Michigan University, made the metal peacock as her final project, spending over 120 hours in total. Spoons, 1300 feet of wire, a portable vegetable steamer, and a gravy boat were all consumed in the process. The result is a bird that weighs 23 pounds, with a whopping 9 pounds just for the tail. The tail is so heavy that it has to be attached to the pedestal and not the bird.

Success!! I was slightly afraid that 3 drywall screws would not hold the weight and cantilever pull of the tail but it held in this spot for 4 days and passed the test.

“This really started out as a hobby but with the fun I’m having and the interest it has gained just from the show, I’m certainly going to continue my work once I get the necessary tools and studio space I need.”
