Clever Campaign Will Change The Way You See Women’s Bathroom Signs Forever

Published 10 years ago

You probably don’t think too much about bathroom doors, but Tania Katan, of Axosoft, aims to change the way you look at the ladies’ room sign. To many, it looks like just the abstract outline of a woman in a dress, but #ItWasNeverADress, launched by Tania and Axosoft, reimagines it as a woman in a cape. It’s is an “invitation to shift perceptions and assumptions about women and the audacious, sensitive, and powerful gestures they make every single day.” The studies are also meant to empower women and encourage them to join the IT industry.

As the project website puts it, “Through storytelling, community building, innovation and creative disruptions, It Was Never a Dress will foster necessary conversations, vital voices, and images from around the world that honor ALL women.” It goes on to encourage woman to break stereotypes, one of which would be for ladies to join the male dominated IT industry.

Here, Tania leads the way – she’s already the Curator of Code at Axosoft. That’s why she’s the one wearing the cape!
