#26 Something Interesting : I Got An Eye Injury 6 Years Ago That Left My Right Eye Blue Now Instead Of The Original Brown!

LakotaWolf (she/her): From OP on Reddit: “So a quick overview is that I was hit in the eye with a tree branch and have had 6 surgeries on it so far. My pupil does not adjust anymore so it always looks like it’s extremely dilated and my iris peeled up and is no longer brown but is showing the blue underneath. Also, I no longer have a lens in that eye!” When asked if OP can see out of that eye: “Without a contact, nope nothing, with a contact at power 15 I can see blurred images… like the outline of my hand if it’s close to my face.” When asked about their depth perception: “At first it was pretty difficult but I can still take in sunlight and my brain adjusted quite well. I honestly can’t even tell a difference anymore after so many years, unless I close my left eye.”

LakotaWolf (she/her): Because I needed to know, even though the image made my spine quiver – from OP on Reddit: “Broken glass at work sliced and separated the front of my thumb from my thumbnail (I’m a bartender) And the Doc decided the best way to fix it would be to sow my thumb right back onto my nail lol. Didn’t even know that was a possibility (expected it to be glued) or I probably would’ve forgone the hospital all together.”

Shanilou Perera

Shanilou has always loved reading and learning about the world we live in. While she enjoys fictional books and stories just as much, since childhood she was especially fascinated by encyclopaedias and strangely enough, self-help books. As a kid, she spent most of her time consuming as much knowledge as she could get her hands on and could always be found at the library. Now, she still enjoys finding out about all the amazing things that surround us in our day-to-day lives and is blessed to be able to write about them to share with the whole world as a profession.

Got wisdom to pour?
