Born in Vienna, Austria and raised in Antwerp, Belgium, artist Giselle Dekel had big dreams of becoming a textile designer because of her passion for patterns. However, despite achieving the necessary qualifications in the textile design field, she struggled to find a job over the years.
Discouraged by her lack of success, Giselle fell into a minor depression and struggled to break free from her situation. Eventually, in 2020 she became very uncomfortable in her circumstances both physically and financially which ultimately led to her digging deep within herself to create more honest art with a more authentic feel. Her artistic spark returned and her works resonated with audiences who were similarly struggling with the idiosyncrasies of everyday life as women and mothers.
