Sunsets Viewed Through A Shattered Mirror In Gorgeous Photography By Bing Wright
New York-based photographer Bing Wright has exhibited genius in simplicity with his extraordinary “Broken Mirror/Evening Sky“ photo series. In this series, he uses shattered mirrors to catch the reflections of the setting Sun and its luminous colours.
The sunset light is caught in elaborately fragmented glass, with lines between the shattered pieces that look like the threads of a black spider web. The reflections are disfigured and doubled in a manner that resembles stained glass. And the large (4‘ across and 6‘ tall) prints of this series exhibited earlier this year at the Paula Cooper Gallery in New York probably only served to enhance the images’ stunning beauty.

a lot of people don’t realize how hard is to achieve gorgeous results like that. It’s not just pointing your camera at broken mirror. He probably used a broken closet mirror door as it is glued on the back, and pieces of glass stay together. But I can only imagine hours of editing dust and fingerprints from those, as cleaning broken mirror this clear is nearly impossible.
Amazingly stunning! I wish my screen was bigger so I could see the whole image at once!
