This 75-Year-Old Artist Creates Edits Of Bushes In Honor Of His Deceased Cat
Richard Saunders, a 75-year-old artist, expresses love for his deceased cat in a very unique way. He creates surreal photos that are digitally manipulated by replacing plants in real places with bushes shaped like cats. He has created hundreds of photos for this project named, “The Topiary Cat”.
In an interview with Bored Panda, Richard revealed that he started this project for fun when his cat was still alive and he didn’t want to continue the project after Tolly’s (his cat’s) death. But his 40K followers on Facebook urged him to carry on. Richard believes that it helps people to cope with the death of their own pets. Scroll below to see some beautiful pictures shared by Richard.

Richard was a surrealist painter and worked in an advertising company. In the interview with Bored Panda, Richard disclosed how the idea of “Topiary Cat Project” occurred to him- “Initially I created these images just for fun. I had taken a photograph, in the grounds of a historic house, of a huge cloud topiary, and it occurred to me that I could fairly easily photograph Tolly in a position to match the shape of the bushes.”

He also said that the process of creating these pictures has become more difficult after the death of his cat- “The images have become more complicated since, many taking days to produce, with tailor-made photos taken especially for them.”
