20 Funny Comics With Unexpected Twists By Gudim (New Pics)
Anton Gudim is a Moscow-based artist who has been creating the hilarious Gudim webcomic for the past 7 years now. His comics always start out innocent and end with an unexpected twist that only becomes apparent in the last panel. We’ve featured some of the artist’s comics before, and today he’s back with a fresh batch of new content.
In a recent interview with Bored Panda, Gudim said that when he initially started creating the comics, he never dreamed that he would one day have over a million fans like he does now. However, even with so many fans, the artist says he doesn’t feel popular. “I remember the day this number appeared on the screen of the Instagram application, and it was not the day when I felt famous, it was the day of accepting that my work was appreciated and I need to move on,” explained the artist.
Gudim says that when initially started out, he was mostly telling jokes and puns but as time went on, they became more and more absurd. “I liked to draw comics about objects, without characters in the frame. Over time, humor began disappearing from some works but did not disappear altogether,” explained the artist. “It seems strange that some artists do not use humor in their works, because a layer of humor is a large layer of creativity.” He also added that life is not only serious and dark all the time – it is also funny. In the end, the artist started to focus on playing with the unexpected properties of things and events.

The artist says that dark humor and sarcasm are just some of the ways he’s conveying information to the audience. “I don’t think that everything should be looked at through the prism of sarcasm, and all humor should be dark,” explained Gudim. “Some situations in life, of course, are easier to deal with with armor in the form of sarcasm, but some situations can be taken face to face and presented in a more unexpected way.”
