These tiny birds are easily distinguishable from other birds due to their egg shape and a unique pattern that makes them look like they have a giant mustache. Not only that – Bearded Reedlings seem to love doing tiny splits between branches!

Males are distinguishable for their bluish-grey heads.
Even though male and female birds look similar at first glance, there are subtle differences between the two.
Female birds are a little more pale in color and don’t have the big mustaches, black streaks under their tails and their beaks are darker than males.

You can spot Bearded Reedlings all year long across Europe and Asia as they do not migrate.
Got wisdom to pour?
They are truly amazing. Unfortunately, the population of these birds is decreasing every year. But we have every opportunity to try to keep them, you can learn more about this here https://featherlink.org/
