Troll Attacks Comic Book Artist On Twitter For Drawing Generously Proportioned Woman, Gets Quickly Silenced By The Author

Published 5 years ago

Everyone likes a nice comic book cover. In many cases, it even decides whether we pick up the comic book or not – that’s why a lot of work goes into drawing the type of cover that will attract a person’s eye. However, when author Blake Northcott recently shared a cover of her upcoming comic book featuring a generously proportioned woman created by artist Leila Leiz, one Twitter user took it a little bit too personally.

The user made many assumptions from just the cover alone, like the artist’s gender and political stance. Instead of dismissing the tweet like most of us probably would, Blake decided to respond and quickly shut the troll down in the most polite way possible.

In an interview with Bored Panda, the author said she’s used to dealing with trolls although it doesn’t happen that often. “I don’t like to respond to people like this because it encourages others to jump on board and start a flame war, but this one was just too funny to pass up,” said Blake. “Plus it was a total softball, no pun intended. I saw the chance to smash it out of the park so I swung. Glad I made a couple of people laugh in the process!”

“The story is about a girls softball team that takes a shortcut through the Florida Everglades, and veer off the path towards a night they’ll never forget – drinking, dancing – one last hurrah before college starts and they go their separate ways,” described Blake the upcoming comic. “When they stumble into a trap set by a murderous cult, the stage is set for a night of blood-soaked carnage – but the cult has never dealt with victims who are ready to fight back… while the girls might not have home-field advantage, they have a game-changing surprise of their own!” You can check the comic out here!

People had a lot to say about the exchange between the two

One day, this guy just kind of figured - "I spend most of my time on the internet anyway, why not turn it into a profession?" - and he did! Now he not only gets to browse the latest cat videos and fresh memes every day but also shares them with people all over the world, making sure they stay up to date with everything that's trending on the web. Some things that always pique his interest are old technologies, literature and all sorts of odd vintage goodness. So if you find something that's too bizarre not to share, make sure to hit him up!

Got wisdom to pour?
