As Game Of Thrones, one of the world’s biggest television series, is nearing its finale, the creators decided to surprise their fans once more, this time by leading them on an epic scavenger hunt all over the world. “To find what?” you may ask. And the answer is to find nothing other than the epic Iron Throne itself – or six of them, for that matter.

So far avid fans of the show have already found four of them in the UK, Brazil, Sweden, and Spain. One throne still remains hidden and another one will be revealed once someone finds the “Throne of Ice”.

Throne of the forest, United Kingdom

Throne of Valyria, Brasil

Throne of joy, Spain

Throne of the North, Sweden

Throne of ice, unknown

The last throne will be revealed once someone finds the “Throne of ice”

HBO teased fans with 360-degree videos of the hidden thrones and offering clues that would help find them. It did not take long for people to find the first four thrones, given only the obscure clues but the last one, located somewhere cold, still remains a mystery – let’s hope it’s not somewhere in Antarctica!

“For seven seasons you’ve watched characters lie, bleed, and sacrifice for the Iron Throne,” says the quest’s page. “As the final season approaches, only one question remains: How far will you go?”

In an interview with Bored Panda, Jonathan Vitblom, a Swedish photographer and one of the people who discovered the Throne of the North in Sweden, says he saw the quest videos on Youtube and was very familiar with the throne’s surroundings. “But I couldn’t really believe it was up here until I saw the first person who found it uploaded a picture of it, and then I was 99% sure that I knew exactly where it was,” said the photographer.

“So we packed our equipment, outfits that are appropriate for winter in the north of Sweden and then we jumped into the car and had a 1-hour car drive till we reached the location,” shared Jonathan. “When we got up there, I wanted to make sure that the throne really was there so I took my drone and flew up to the plateau that I thought it was located at. I spotted it almost right away because you could tell that a big throne doesn’t belong up there on the mountainside!”

This is a picture Jonathan took of the throne – he had to take a long hike through deep snow just to make it there. “When we got there we were surprised by a camera team that wanted pictures and an interview with us!” said the photographer.

Looks like the thrones are still there so this might be your perfect chance to feel like a real character of the show! And who knows, maybe you’ll be the lucky one that finds the last throne?

Aušrys Uptas

One day, this guy just kind of figured - "I spend most of my time on the internet anyway, why not turn it into a profession?" - and he did! Now he not only gets to browse the latest cat videos and fresh memes every day but also shares them with people all over the world, making sure they stay up to date with everything that's trending on the web. Some things that always pique his interest are old technologies, literature and all sorts of odd vintage goodness. So if you find something that's too bizarre not to share, make sure to hit him up!

Got wisdom to pour?
