A Day Before Her Death, This 27-Year-Old Wrote A Letter, And Every Person Should Read It

Published 7 years ago

When was the last time you paused and took a deep breath thinking “it’s good to be alive”? More often than not we tend to take our lives for granted, as well as many other things in it. Our families and relationships, the commodities and comfort of our homes, our health – it all gets put aside because we insist on participating in the daily rat race. A letter written by Holly Butcher, who recently died of cancer, invites everyone to give up on the constant racing and start living – really living.

“[Life] is fragile, precious and unpredictable and each day is a gift, not a given right,” Butcher starts the letter that she wrote just a day before passing. The 27-year-old lost her battle with Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare type of cancer that is most common amongst teenagers and young adults. This heartbreaking diagnosis, however, didn’t stop her from spreading the love for life.

The letter encourages everyone to look around and enjoy the moment. Read the full message below and go ahead, eat that cake, call that friend, dance to that song you love so much, and breathe because there is nothing better in life than living.
