Architect Creates Incredible House Out Of Shipping Containers, And The Inside Is As Impressive As The Exterior
London-based designer James Whitaker is responsible for one of the most awesomely bonkers house design that uses shipping containers put in a shape of a desert flower-like cascade. And the best thing about this design is that it’s actually going to get built!
A 200-square meter house has all the commodities like a kitchen, a living room, and even three en-suite bedrooms, all of which is fitted inside shipping containers joined into a single unit.
It was designed for an anonymous film producer who likes to support creative projects like these, so naturally, he couldn’t just walk past this one: “Earlier this year my client in LA had some friends visiting and, having a little time to spare, they all went on a road trip to visit the client’s plot of land in Joshua Tree,” said James. “One of the friends said, “you know what would look great here?”, before opening her laptop to show everyone a picture she’d seen on the internet. The picture was of an office that I’d designed several years ago but had never been built, so the next time the client was in London he got in touch and asked to meet up.”
The residence is called The Joshua Tree Residence, and it will be built on the client’s 90-acre plot of land in California. The construction is scheduled to begin next year, and the final version will also be solar powered from panels on the garage roof, making the design not only stunning but also more self-sustainable.
