While we usually hear about scientists only after they’ve discovered or invented something, the journey to that can be just as exciting as the final result. That’s what French artist Jim Jourdane has decided to highlight with his illustrations of the most memorable #Fieldworkfails submitted by the scientists since 2015.

From peeing in jaguar’s territory to gluing yourself to a crocodile, these brainiacs show another big part of science – failing at it. And while they still have a lot to learn, through their failures the rest of us can learn as well: “I talked to [them] I realized that there’s a lot of problems of communication with the general public about how they work, what they do,” Jim told Gizmodo.
