Actor Henry Cavill Is Spending Quarantine By Painting Miniature Warhammer Figurines

Published 5 years ago

Believe it or not, even celebrities were affected by the recent lockdown. And while some choose to complain about being stuck in isolation or sing terrible renditions of “Imagine”, others are using their free time to work on their hobbies. Take Man of Steel and The Witcher star Henry Cavill, for example – the man is spending his quarantine by hand-painting miniature Warhammer figurines and it’s not hard to see why people are dubbing him “Hollywood’s favorite geek”.

Henry is know as quite a geek among his fans and you’ve probably heard the story of how he missed his first Superman casting because he was too busy playing Warcraft.

The actor revealed that he’s using his free time to hand-paint Warhammer miniatures

Back on Easter, the actor shared a picture of himself painting a miniature figurine with the caption: “Considering we are, both, going through the Easter period, and going through The Lockdown, I figured it a good time to put a silver lining onto the cloud that is some of the darker moments during this time. So I’ve decided to polish some old skills and try my hand at some new ones! It is a time of rebirth after all. So, as you can see here, the obvious might look a little bit like a tiny helmet…which it is. One of my almost life long hobbies, that I’ve been following but not actively doing, is this. A company called Games Workshop…or plastic crack as ‘we’ call it. Genuinely can’t get enough of the lore they have built over the decades. They have been some of my most enthused reads! If you were in denial about me being a geek before, you can’t hide from it now. Also, in the background of this photo, there may just be some completely new skills I’m working on…..or there may not be, so all of your eye squinting and attempts at digital unfocusing will be in vain….orrrr maybe they won’t.”

Hopefully this time the actor won’t miss anything important due to his geeky habits

“I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank, from the bottom of my heart, all of the NHS (National Health Service, here in the UK) and healthcare workers worldwide, for your unceasing efforts to protect us,” added the actor. “I imagine it might be feeling a little rough right now, but you Ladies and Gents are absolutely smashing it! Keep it up! You got this. ‘Hold on a second,’ I hear you utter…..’if he has both hands in the photo…how is he taking the photo??’ New skills, my friends….new skills,” he added.

According to Peter Thuborg of Age of Miniatures, painting Warhammer figurines can be challenging. “The number of options and pitfalls are staggering and most never people actually finish the projects they start. In order to succeed, it is very important for you to have a clear idea of what it is you want to achieve,” explained the man. He suggests choosing a paint scheme in advance and doing a test model if possible.

One day, this guy just kind of figured - "I spend most of my time on the internet anyway, why not turn it into a profession?" - and he did! Now he not only gets to browse the latest cat videos and fresh memes every day but also shares them with people all over the world, making sure they stay up to date with everything that's trending on the web. Some things that always pique his interest are old technologies, literature and all sorts of odd vintage goodness. So if you find something that's too bizarre not to share, make sure to hit him up!

Got wisdom to pour?
