British Artist Draws Coloring Books For Adults And Sells Million Copies
When we were little children, our parents really enjoyed the moments when we were focused in coloring the illustrations of some book, because that meant we were silent and calmed. So, if it worked with children, why wouldn’t be useful with grown-ups too? Probably that’s what Johanna Basford thought, as her coloring book for adults has sold more than a million copies.
Her illustrations are enchanting and beautiful, but also more complicated to color than your average children coloring book, of course. “Every piece I create starts life as a simple pencil sketch, evolving into a rambling pen and ink drawing usually spanning several sheets of paper. I love the tactile nature of the materials I use and the joy of smudgy fingerprints.” She enjoys making her drawings as much as the rest of us would enjoy giving them some colors.
If you feel like sharpening your color pencils, Johanna’s book is available in Amazon.
